About the Webinars

This webinar series aims to support the ISoRED's mission to bring together radiation researchers from around the world to discuss studies of ionizing radiation effects in humans, epidemiologic methodology and dosimetry; support capacity building and training for the next generation of epidemiologists, statisticians and dosimetrists; and promote and facilitate international collaborations.

Abstract

The use of thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) have staple applications in the field of radiation worker dosimetry using LiF and Al2O3 dosimeters respectively. The use of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is a well established tool for secondary standard calibration of radiation sources using alanine dosimeters. These methods (TL, OSL and EPR) have also been used for epidemiology, archaelogy and material characterization. This talk will discuss how TL, OSL and EPR can also be used for emergency response, nuclear forensics and even nuclear non-proliferation.
